Gardaí say unlicensed drivers are putting passengers and other road users at serious risk following detection at Dublin checkpoint
Gardai are warning that bus drivers who do not have the correct licence are putting public safety at risk.
The warning comes following the seizure of a minibus in Dublin City this week following a detection at a routine checkpoint operation.
In a post on social media, gardaí said they discovered that the driver of the Ford Transit minibus did not hold the correct licence to operate the vehicle.
"The driver, as it turned out, did not have a licence allowing him to drive a bus. The vehicle was seized with a court date set for the future," read the post.
The incident, gardai say, happened during a roadside checkpoint which was carried out by members of the Garda Commercial Vehicle Unit as part of ongoing road safety operations.

Gardaí say incidents such as the one in Dublin represent a serious safety risk - particularly given that a bus licence is required by those who are transporting multiple passengers.
All motorists, particularly those operating commercial or passenger-carrying vehicles, are being urged to ensure they hold the correct licence, valid insurance and that they have up-to date documentation.
