The collision involving a car and a van occurred at Drum shortly after 8am
A young who was killed in a road crash on the N17 in Milltown, Galway on Friday morning was the third person to die on Irish roads in less than 24 hours.
The collision, involving a car and a van, happened shortly after 8am. The driver of the car, a man in his 20's was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gardai say a post mortem examination will be arranged at the morgue at University Hospital Galway.
The driver of the van, a man in his 50s, was airlifted from the scene and brought to the UHG after sustaining serious injuries in the collision.

Gardai say the road between, Milltown and Ballindine, on the Galway-Mayo border was closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators with local diversions in place.
It's the third fatality on Irish roads in less than 24 hours as two people lost their lives in separate incidents in Cork on Thursday. A man in his 40s was killed following a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle in Ballycotton around 3:30pm.
Just a matter of hours later, a young woman, aged in her 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene after her bike collided with a truck in Cork city around 6pm, Thursday evening.

Gardai are appealing for anyone that may have witnessed Friday's collision in Galway to contact them immediately. A Garda spokesperson has asked for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7:45am and 8:15am on Friday morning to make the footage available to the investigating Gardai.
