Tributes have flooded in for a grandmother from Nenagh following her passing on Tuesday.
Elizabeth McAvinchey (née Cahill) died peacefully in the care of Milford Care Centre on the 6th August, and is sadly missed by her family.
Elizabeth, or 'Liz', was the cherished grandmother of nine, and was the mother of Andrew, Paul, Shane, Gavin and Claire. She was predeceased by her husband David.
A Nenagh native, Elizabeth is deeply missed by her community, in particular at Nenagh Golf Club. Elizabeth joined the club in 1990, serving as Lady Captain in 2001 and as Lady President in 2017.
She also held a number of positions on both the Ladies and Management committees and represented Nenagh on Club teams, and was a dedicated and active member of the Club up until recently.
In a touching tribute, the golf club described how they were "deeply saddened" by the death of a "beloved member, golfer and friend".
"To her family she was Elizabeth but to everyone in Nenagh Golf Club she was always and will always be Liz," the club said in a statement.
"Liz was a Lady with a Capital L. She loved life and enjoyed it too. She was a kind and helpful person and a great friend to have. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Rest in peace dear Liz."
Many others paid their respects in condolence messages online, with one tribute describing how Elizabeth "brought so much joy and laughter into our lives".
"I will always cherish the memories we shared. Rest in peace, you will always be remembered for the beautiful person you are," the tribute read.
Elizabeth will be reposing on Thursday August 8th from 5.00pm to 7.00pm in Kellers Funeral Home. There will be a Guard of Honour at her Funeral Mass which takes place on Friday at 11.00am in Kilruane church.
