Four blood donations will take place in Nenagh next week

Tipperary blood donors are being urged to support blood donation clinics in the north of the county next week as just 2.9 days of O Negative blood remains in stock.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) have urged donors in the Nenagh area to support upcoming clinics as demand for blood remains high.

Three blood donation clinics will take place in Nenagh's Scout Hall next week, with clinics being held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Demand for blood has reached "unprecedented levels" according to the IBTS, who are trying to rebuild blood supplies after the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

"As hospitals nationwide experience rising demand for blood products month after month, the need for regular donors has never been more urgent," the IBTS said.

"There is no substitute for human blood. It is essential for cancer patients, trauma cases, surgeries, and premature babies. We rely on everyday heroes—like the people of Tipperary—to keep the supply steady," an IBTS spokesperson said.
