Residents of Nenagh have welcomed a significant road safety improvement following confirmation from Tipperary councillor Louise Morgan Walsh that the 80km per hour speed limit sign on the Borrisokane Road has been removed and relocated.
The change comes after repeated representations at Nenagh Municipal District meetings and ongoing concerns raised about near misses involving local children.
The 80km per hour sign has been moved further out the Borrisokane Road, beyond the entrance to Drummin Village.
Traffic approaching the estate must now reduce speed much earlier.

Previously, motorists encountered a confusing situation where there was a 50km per hour limit on one side of the road and 80km per hour on the other.
Concerns had been raised that this arrangement posed a serious risk to residents, particularly children crossing the road to access the local shop.
The revised positioning removes that inconsistency and creates a clearer and safer approach for drivers entering the residential area.
Cllr Morgan Walsh previously described the stretch of road as a “deathtrap”, citing several alarming near misses.
She said the relocation of the sign is a major step forward for the community but stressed that further measures are still required.
She confirmed that she will continue to press the Council to ensure that planned safety ramps for the area are installed as soon as possible.
The councillor also acknowledged the role played by concerned parents and residents who kept her informed and continued to raise the issue.
Their engagement helped ensure the matter remained a priority, leading to what many in the area now see as a positive and practical safety improvement.
While further work remains, the relocation of the speed limit sign represents meaningful progress for the area and its residents.
