'Beautiful, kind and graceful' - Tributes paid after death of beloved Tipperary grandmother

Claire Grimes (née Coughlan), a Roscrea resident, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

Tributes have poured in for a beloved Tipperary great-grandmother, who died peacefully earlier this week.

Claire Grimes (née Coughlan), 13 Seffin Avenue, Birr, Co. Offaly and formerly of Church Street, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, died peacefully on November 6th, 2024, in the wonderful care of the staff of The Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

Predeceased by her parents Martin and Margaret, her brother Seamus and her sisters Phyllis and Carmel, Claire is "deeply regretted" by her loving husband Brian, as well as her children  Conor, Ronan, Catherine (Grimes-Horan) and Eleanor.

She will be sadly kissed by her brother Ger, sister-in-law Bridie, brother-in-law Jackie, sons-in-law Kieran and Peter and her daughters-in-law Maureen and Majella, as well as her nine grandchilden, and great granddaughter Emma.

Many have flooded to Claire's death notice to leave their heartfelt condolences, with the Offaly native described as a "beautiful, gentle, kind and graceful lady".

Claire Grimes will repose at her daughter Catherine’s home Birr on Saturday evening from 5pm until 7pm.

Removal will take place on Sunday morning followed by a funeral mass at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr at 12 noon.
