Council proposes closing section of road in a Tipperary town for three weeks in January

Tipperary County Council has given notice that it proposes to close a section of the L-221 Cashel Road in Killenaule from the junction with Main Street R-689-8 for three weeks in January to facilitate the installation of a watermain. 

The Council is proposing to close the road from 7pm on Monday, January 12 until 6pm on Monday, February 2. 

Proposed alternative routes

Traffic intending to access Cashel Road from the R689. 

Travel northbound on the R-689-8 for 1.2km to Ashgrove, exit the R-689 onto the R-691, at the crossroad junction (800m from R689 junction) bear around to the left following the R-691, travel westbound on the R-691 for 2km and turn left onto the L-2210 (Ballintogher), follow the L-2210 for 2.8km to the end detour at Church View, Killenaule.

Travel westbound on the L-2210 and continue for 2.8km, turn right onto the R691, follow the road to the right at the cross road (2km after the L-2210), follow the R-691 for 800m and turn right onto the R689 to Killenaule. 

Objections to the proposed closure may be submitted in writing to Road Closures, Roads & Transportation Section, Tipperary County Council Civic Offices, Limerick Road Nenagh not later than 12noon on Tuesday, December 9 or by email to roadclosures@tipperarycoco.ie
