Daft.ie latest report
The average cost of rent in Tipperary ranks lowest across Munster.
A 6.4% increase on rent across the county also ranks Tipperary among the counties who experienced the lowest level of inflation on rent in the first quarter of 2024.
According to Daft.ie, the average cost of rent in Q1 of 2024 in the county is €1,292, over €600 cheaper than the average national cost of rent.
The average cost of rent in the county is on average 6.4% higher in the first three months of 2023, at a cost 50% greater than that preceding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The level of inflation across the province is currently at 5.9%, down from 11.6% in the same period in 2023.
“Rental inflation has slowed considerably over the last 18 months," Associate Professor of Economics at Trinity College Dublin, and author of the Daft.ie report Ronan Lyons said.
"However, improvements in the availability of homes to rent look to have stalled. Without additional increases in rental supply, any pressure on rents is likely to be upward in nature, further straining affordability for those on regular incomes."
The number of houses available for rent on Daft.ie however remains low, with just 240 homes available to rent on the site currently.
