Tipperary has been named as one of the most affordable counties for first time buyers
Tipperary has been named as one of the most affordable counties for first time buyers.
The Premier County was ranked as Ireland's sixth most affordable location for those looking to get on the property ladder, according to new research by price comparison website Switcher.ie.
The research found that the average amount of time it would take first time buyers to save for a deposit in Tipperary was 2.2 years, down on 3.2 years in last year's research.
This is based on a median income of €39,275 per year.
The research also found that the median price of a house for a first time buyer in Tipperary was €245,000.
Nationally Dún Laoghaire was the most expensive location for first time buyers, with it taking an average of 21.4 years to save for a deposit there.

Commercial Director of Switcher.ie, Eoin Clarke said: "The chance of getting on the Irish property ladder depends heavily on where you live, work, and plan to buy a property.
"However, now that Ireland has introduced laws to support flexible working and the daily commute takes a backseat, cheaper, rural locations could become increasingly popular for singles and couples buying their first home," he said.
