Fethard Rugby Football Club (RFC) has issued a statement following an incident at Fethard Town Park involving the club’s minis and youth teams.

On Friday, November 7, Fethard RFC minis and youth boys and girls attended training at Fethard Town Park from 7–8pm. This has been the allocated time for these age groups for the past five years in Fethard Town Park, and for 20 years prior in Knockelly, the club's old home.

According to the statement, a Fethard Town Park representative attempted to push these age groups from their historical training time slot.

The club said they were informed that their time slot was no longer available and had been booked by a club outside of Fethard.

"This resulted in us, a local Fethard club, being pushed out of the facilities we were told to consider our 'home' five years ago, by an outside club not affiliated to Fethard," the statement said.

Fethard RFC described it as "a disappointing day for Fethard Rugby and the potential future of grassroots rugby".
