A telecommunications pole that had been causing safety concerns on a Tipperary road near Scotts Cross has now come down only eight days after the strong winds associated with Storm Dave.
Concerns had been raised about a leaning telephone pole on the road at Scotts Cross, between The Commons and Ballingarry in Tipperary.
Cllr Michael Brennan reported the public’s concerns on April 2, and Tipperary County Council then flagged the issue with Eir as it is telecommunications property and therefore outside of the local authority's remit.

Cllr Michael Brennan today issued an update on the pole saying that "This pole fell Friday last and as a result there isn't any internet in the area."
The exact location of the pole is on the fethard killusty road near thorny bridge, said the councillor.
Eir were alerted to the issue 11 days ago but were not provided with an exact eircode until now.

Eir had not provided comment at the time of the original report. The company was again contacted this morning and confirmed that the pole is scheduled for completion today.
