In a Tipperary Southern and District soccer League, Division 2 game played in heavy conditions, the home side started slowly and on 15 minutes conceded a penalty, which was brilliantly saved by Conor Grant.

But from the resulting corner Saints took the lead when Jamie Malone headed brilliantly into the top corner.

Despite numerous chances, a combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping meant Saints went in 1-0 up at half-time.

The home team were a different proposition in the second half and were level on 52 minutes when a defender headed into his own net. On 57 minutes they went 2-1 up when Brandon Cagney played a superb ball to Shane Gartland, who turned and finished to the bottom corner.

On 60 minutes Nathan Dolan made it 3-1 from almost halfway, spotting the ‘keeper off his line to finish superbly.

Ben Smith made it four on 82 minutes when he broke through and rounded the ‘keeper.

In the 90th minute Smith wrapped up the scoring, finishing a simple chance.
