The destination of the last major trophy in this year's Tipperary Southern & District League's programme will be decided at Cahir Park tomorrow night (Saturday) with the meeting of holders St Michael's and Old Bridge in the Clonmel Credit Union Tipperary Cup (kick-off at 7 pm).

It is a real David v Goliath affair with the Tipperary Town side, despite having a disappointing few weeks of late, expected to round off their season with some silverware.

Having lost out in the FAI Junior Cup final earlier this month to Newmarket Celtic on penalties in the final played at Jackman Park in Limerick, the Saints also saw their hopes of winning an eighth successive Premier League title evaporate on Monday evening last when they could only manage an 0-0 draw at home to Peake Villa of Thurles.

Clonmel side Old Bridge who play out of the picturesque riverside venue at Green Lane, have been operating in Division 1 since they lost their top flight status a couple of years back. After a slow start before Christmas they have improved greatly in the second half of the season. They will eagerly look forward to taking on the mighty Michael's and be hopeful of weathering the inevitable early storm from the vastly more experienced Tipperary Town side. Should they do that and settle well, 'The Bridge' will entertain hopes of a mighty upset.

With magnificent weather at the moment, Cahir Park tomorrow night might be a treat for local soccer fans.
