Cathal Dillon, Aherlow and Lattin/Cullen, is wished the best of luck when he competes in the M Donnelly GAA All-Ireland Poc Fada Final next Monday, August 5 on the Annaverna mountain in the Cooley Mountains, Co Louth.
Cathal will compete in the senior competition along with eleven other competitors, including Kerry hurler Fionán Mackessy, who is the reigning champion; Kilkenny’s Killian Phelan, who claimed the title in 2022; 2021 champion Colin Ryan, and Offaly hurler Cillian Kiely, who was back-to-back champion in 2018 and 2019.
Clare senior hurlers Peter Duggan, who finished third in last year’s competition, and David Fitzgerald are the sponsor’s pick.
Cathal Dillon finished second in the Munster Poc Fada in the Galtee Mountains on June 15, one puck behind Colin Ryan, Pallasgreen, who claimed the title for the second year in a row.
The last Tipperary man to win the competition was Brendan Cummins in 2015.
