Two sides from same school meet in Tipperary football final - and they couldn't be separated

The two High School teams celebrate their county final success together after their final at Dr Morris Park in Thurles ended in a draw, 2-4 to 1-7

Clonmel High School 1st year footballers completed the County A double after winning the County A Football Blitz on November 30 in Dr Morris Park, Thurles.

Having already won the County A hurling title in defeating Thurles CBS, this young group marked a magnificent first term in the school by following it up with the football title.

In an unique occasion for the High School, the school entered two teams into the A grade, High School Red and High School Black, and both sides defeated the Abbey CBS and Cashel Community in the group stages to set up a County A final against each other.

In a tense battle between the two High School sides, neither side gave an inch and 30 minutes of football could not separate the sides as they drew on a scoreline of High School Black 2-4 to 1-7 for High School Red.

It was then decided that the proper thing to do was to share the cup between the two sides and captains, Killian Smith and Hugh Carolan accepted the cup on behalf of the school.
