Local Tipperary village to benefit majorly from €1 million Uisce Éireann investment

Homes and businesses in Templetuohy are set to benefit from Uisce Éireann’s €1 million investment in the public water supply.

Works have commenced that will ensure continued delivery of a safe, secure, and reliable supply of drinking water to over 800 customers in the local community.

The Templetuohy Public Water Supply is included on the Environmental Protection Agency's Remedial Action List, which identifies water supplies that need improvement.

The upgrade works at the water treatment plant now underway will provide a more robust and advanced water treatment process and ensure ongoing compliance with drinking water standards into the future.

Commenting on the upgrade, Uisce Éireann Programme Manager Julie Curtin said: “We’re delighted to have commenced this project to improve the public water supply for the community of Templetuohy. The enhanced treatment facilities will improve the drinking water quality for residents and businesses in the area ensuring continued delivery of a safe and reliable water supply.”

The focus of the work includes an upgrade to the disinfection system on site, to ensure a more modern and efficient process and advanced monitoring system.

Ward and Burke are carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann. Completion of this upgrade project is planned for early 2026.

The Templetuohy project is part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing multimillion euro investment in upgrading the water infrastructure across County Tipperary, including recently completed projects in Newport, Nenagh, Littleton, Horse & Jockey, Upperchurch, Glengar and Cappawhite; ongoing critical upgrades benefiting the communities of Clonmel, Roscrea, Two Mile Borris, Carrick on Suir, Goatenbridge and surrounding areas.
