Lights 'switch on' is a blinding success in Templemore

What a difference a year makes.

Despite the freezing conditions a huge crowd turned out at the Town Hall on Friday night last to witness the official switch on of our brand new lights.

Myles was in situ before the Angelus getting everybody in the mood with some festive tunes. The choir singers then took over and were in full voice as Martin Joe Cosgrave delivered Santy to hordes of excited kids with Mary O's beautifully prepared goodie bags proving very popular.

Joe Barry and his band of merry pipers were next up with the sound of their music filling the square. Then for the big moment with All - Ireland winners Maria Curley and Elaine Fitzpatrick doing the honours.

In an instant the entire square was transformed and there seemed to be a smile on every face. One old veteran of the town was heard to say " Best lights I've ever seen in Templemore". A ringing endorsement then for the new project and well done to all involved.

A thousand thanks to all who organised the event but in particular to all who turned up to support.

For many years we have envied the lights of neighbouring towns but this year they'll all be saying "Did you see the lights in Templemore". Finally we must acknowledge the contributions of both TCDA and Tipperary County Council who spearheaded this project last March and saw it through to its successful conclusion. Looking forward to the next project.

This was a lovely start to the Christmas season – now bear in mind the hard work of our local traders whose shops are full of Christmas Fare, and make a special effort to Shop At Home.

Remember that there are no Parking Charges on Saturdays.
