Thurles Golf Club to enter juvenile team into competition for first time in a 'long time'

Their first outing will be at county rivals Cahir

Thurles Golf Club has announced its intention to field a juvenile team in competition for the first time 'in a long time'.

According to the club, this year they have a 'great number of juveniles', their first outing in Cahir on Friday, April 25.

A team of 5 players and 2 subs have been entered in the Fred Daly Competition.

Sean Kennedy, Peter Breen, Fiachra Johnston, Christopher Quigley and Cathal Keane have been selected to play, with Conor Doherty and Adam Bolger selected as subs.

This competition is played in match play mode, off scratch.

In other club news...

MEN’S RESULTS

Easter Weekend was a partial washout, with no golf on Friday or Saturday.

Sunday saw the club return with a team of three, any combination.

The weather was not perfect but they had a full field on the day.

There was one to count on each hole and the combination of John and Paddy Dwan and David Bourke were victorious with a total score of 50 points.

Annette Boland, Marian Finn, and Pat Fallon were a very good second with 48 points.

On Easter Monday, there were over a hundred competing for the singles title of the day.

James P. Ryan was in first place with 45 points. In second was Eugene Quirke with 44 points. James Wade had 41 and John
Crowley had 38.

Thomas Fogarty took the best gross with a score of 35 points.

Seniors was played on Wednesday, April 23.

A full field on the day saw Paudie Butler, Joe Brennan, William O’Grady and Noel Jordan to the fore with a total score of 75 points. John Malone, Eamon Maher, Michael White, and Liam Ryan were in second, with 72 points.

LADIES RESULTS

On Monday, April 21, the ladies played an 18 hole singles Stapleford.

Mary Brennan was in 1st place with 44 points; in second place with 39 points was Catherine Cooney.

Ann Murphy, with 37 points was third.

Marian Finn had the best gross with 26 points.

Anna Stapleton was also on 37 points but beaten on the count back.
