Tipperary ETB hosted their second annual fashion show in Thurles last week.
The exhibition took place on April 23, in front of a packed crowd in the ETB centre.
Six students from the fashion design course took it in turns to showcase the design process behind their dresses, from mood boards, to design inspirations, to colour choices, to ideal customers, relating everything back to a famous fashion designer who inspired their work.
Up first was Anne Moonan, whose collection was titled “Draíocht.” Her collection was inspired by Oscar de la Renta.
Patricia Moriarty followed, with her collection titled “Kheper.” Her dress took inspiration from Maison Martin Marciela, and was based on the different types of scarab beetle.
Mariia Holinska was up next, with her collection “Tender Sea,” inspired by corals. She paid an ode to Dutch designer Iris van Herpen.
Liene Rauzenberga was to follow. She paid tribute to famous designer Paco Robanne with her dress, titled “Venom,” which took inspiration from a mixture of Japanese culture and reptiles.
Catherine McCormack was next, with her dress, titled “False Gods,” taking much inspiration from religious artwork and design, as she paid homage to Belgian designer Dries van Noten.
Finally on the day, Beata Grebosz rounded out the proceedings with her dress “Saint’s Inferno,” which took inspiration from popular Japanese fashion label Comme Des Garcons.
The students took the opportunity at the event of the event to thank the course co-ordinators and organisers of the event, Niamh Lynch and Anne Devaney, for their co-operation and assistance with their projects.
Niamh and Anne also took the opportunity to thank everyone else involved in the running of the event, including their photographers and videographers, other ETB staff, students from other ETB courses, and everyone who showed up to the showcase.
