It depicts members of Thurles Scouts Troop, together with relatives and friends, who toured the avenues, carol singing, to raise funds for the less privileged.

Mr Campbell is calling on the people of Thurles, and wider Tipperary, with assistance in identifying those depicted in the photograph.

So far, he and others have been able to identify Kieran McNamara, Liam Lane, Donal Keally, Marie Dwyer (O’Brien), Mary Mockler, Seamus O’Mahony, David Campbell, Mairin Feeley (Campbell), Cyril Kennedy, Jim Max, Brian O’Reilly, Martin Semple, Alice O’Brien (Quinn), Michael Kerrigan, Mary Kerrigan, Vera Kennedy, Terry Kennedy, , Hugh Ryan, ----Tuohy, and Jim Smith within the photograph, although he notes that some of these may be inaccurate due to uncertainty in their identification.

“I feel that this photograph offers a glimpse into the past, different times, when colour photographs were but a dream for future days,” said Mr Campbell of the photo.

“I know that this is ambitious and would take some time, - the photo, in my view, is only topical at this time of year.”
