EDITORIAL: Tipperary's semi-finals win shows that team worked hard together to achieve result

Watching the Tipperary-Kilkenny match makes you realise teamwork really does make the dream work.

The Tipperary hurling team deserve all the praise after last Sunday’s semi-final.

Hurling is in no way an ‘easy’ sport, I’m sure many readers will know.

On Sunday’s semi final match between Tipperary and Kilkenny, the Tipp team players not only showed the country how skilled they are at their chosen sport, but they also showed us how working as a team really helps to achieve great results.

Tipperary goalie Rhys Shelly has shown he can make key saves in recent games but in this match he cemented this by saving an effort by Kilkenny’s Eoin Cody.

With being a goalie comes a lot of responsibility. You are the last thing between the goal and the sliotar. However, even though this position in a team seems isolating, it is essential that the goalie receives support from their team.

Noel McGrath, who won a spirit-raising free out near the Cusack Stand sideline, was ecstatic after the match in interviews, making us all in Tipperary share the happiness the team felt in that moment.

The togetherness of all the players culminating in a win for Tipperary, inspires all of the Tipp supporters and even young fans, who may be inspired by the team to start their own sporting career.

Player Robert Doyle showed how skill and quick thinking are important in the game when he blocked a shot on the line.

Jason Forde won the man of the match award on Sunday when he stepped up when Tipperary needed him most.

Showing us the importance of rising up when others need you and doing what's best for a group. These players show us that it is important to think of what's best for the team and not just the player.

Well done to all of the team members, we will all be rooting for you for the next two weeks when Tipperary take on Cork in the final in Croke Park on July 20.
