Tipperary Fianna Fáil group holds elections for new officers

The Annual General Meeting of Tipperary Town Fianna Fáil - The Dan Breen Cumann and Tipperary Fianna Fáil Comhairle Ceantair took place in The Porter House, Tipperary Town, on Monday, June 16.

The AGM of the Dan Breen Cumann took place first with outgoing Chairperson Frank Begley welcoming members to the meeting, and announcing that after many years in the role he wished to step down as Chairperson and "give someone younger a chance to step up and take the organisation forward."

Outgoing Honorary Secretary John Hartnett also announced that he wished to step down after years in the role.

The election of officers then took place with the following elected: Dr Martin Mansergh and  Michael Maguire as Honorary Presidents, Dermot Riordan as Chairperson, Liam O'Grady as Vice-Chairperson, Jacqui Finnan as Honorary Secretary, Dermot Riordan and Denis Hartnett as Joint Treasurers, and Stephen Ryan as Youth Officer.

Incoming Chairperson Dermot Riordan then addressed the meeting saying; "I am delighted to have been elected as Chairperson of the Dan Breen Cumann, I am looking forward to working with all our members, Senator Imelda Goldsboro, and Cllr. Roger Kennedy, in growing the organisation locally over the next year".

The AGM of Tipperary Fianna Fáil Comhairle Ceantair then took place with Chairperson Frank Begley welcoming everyone, and expressing his wish to step down as Chairperson of the CC also.

The following people were elected to the Comhairle Ceantair Officer Board: Dr Martin Mansergh and Michael Maguire as Honorary Presidents, Jacqui Finnan as Chairperson, Noel Leahy as Vice-Chairperson, Catherine Bergin as Honorary Secretary, Geraldine Fuller and Michael Maguire as Joint Treasurers, and John Hartnett as PRO.

Newly elected Chairperson Jacqui Finnan then addressed the members saying "I am humbled and delighted to receive the support tonight to become Chairperson, I'm excited to get stuck in with other officers elected to make our organisation more active, and encourage people from all backgrounds to join Fianna Fáil locally to make a meaningful difference in our community."

The meeting was also addressed by Senator Imelda Goldsboro & Cllr Roger Kennedy.
