A Status Red wind warning for Galway, Mayo has been issued by Met Éireann from 5pm on Sunday until 9pm on Sunday night as Storm Isha hits Ireland.
Met Éireann is warning that Storm Isha will bring extremely strong and gusty southwest winds with severe and destructive gusts, particularly in coastal and exposed areas.
Impacts:
• Dangerous coastal conditions with high waves
• Treacherous travelling conditions
• Risk of significant and widespread power outages
Rare Status Red Weather Warnings have been issued by Met Eireann with Storm Isha set to hammer Ireland throughout Sunday and into the early hours of Monday morning.
Met Eireann has issued a Status Red Marine Storm Warning for Donegal as well from Erris Head to Bloody Foreland to Fair Head on the north coast.
Met Eireann states that southwest to west winds will reach storm force 10 or violent storm force 11, just one level below hurricane force winds.
The entire country is covered by Status Orange Wind Warnings at various times on Sunday and Monday.
