ALERT: Irish weather forecast for next four days predicts 'sunshine' at weekend

At last, some good news on the Irish weather front from Met Éireann!

Pictured above is the total rainfall forecast for the next 10 days and "it’s a long time since I seen so little forecast for 10 days", says forecaster Alan O'Reilly.

Here is Met Éireann's forecaster for the next few days: 

Thursday: A cloudy and generally dry day away from Ulster where patches of light rain will linger through the day.

Outbreaks of light and patchy rain and drizzle will develop in the northwest spreading southeastwards in the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 or 14 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind, increasing fresh at times.

Mostly cloudy and dry, with just a few patches of light rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.

Overview: Patches of light rain or drizzle at times, but overall a lot of dry weather and gradually increasing daytime temperatures.

Thursday night: Staying largely cloudy with patches of light rain or drizzle. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.

Friday: Starting mostly cloudy with isolated showers but sunny spells will improve later in the day. Highest temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees with light to moderate north to northwest winds.

Friday night: Dry with long clear spells and light winds. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees.

Saturday: Most areas will be dry on Saturday with some sunshine at times. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees with light and variable winds.

Saturday night: Dry with clear spells and light winds. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees.

Sunday: Sunday is looking mostly dry with sunshine at times. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with light winds.
