LIVE: Tipperary school confirms it will NOT open on Monday following snowfall

School is among the first to confirm it will not be open on Monday morning

The first Tipperary school has confirmed it will NOT be open on Monday following heavy snowfall and a Status Orange weather warning over the weekend in the county. 

The Presentation Ballingarry Secondary School has said: "In light of the orange weather warning, and to ensure the safety of all travelling to Presentation Ballingarry, the school will remain closed Monday. Further updates will be issued if required."

A Status Orange Snow-Ice warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wicklow, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary came into effect from 5pm on Saturday and remained in place until 5pm on Sunday with treacherous road conditions across the Premier County. 

Met Éireann forecasted significant snowfall accumulations.
