Thursday will be mainly dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees with light southwest breezes.

Turning milder for Friday and the weekend, but more unsettled and turning windy, with rain-bands moving in from the Atlantic.

According to Carlow Weather forecaster Alan O'Reilly, he said: "Thankfully the next storm from the Atlantic will stay well south of Ireland and Wednesday and we will have a nice day.

"So if you look at Windy or other forecast maps and see it don't worry about it. The bank holiday weekend looking more uncertain though now with risk of rain at weekend but details uncertain at moment."
