Ireland is set for a changeable Easter Monday, with a damp and drizzly start in the north and northeast giving way to brighter skies later in the day.
While sunny spells will develop widely as morning rain clears, the reprieve will be short-lived for many, as scattered heavy showers are expected across the country through the afternoon.

Isolated thunderstorms are also possible, particularly in inland areas. Temperatures will reach between 11 and 14 degrees in moderate, occasionally fresh, westerly winds.
Looking Ahead
Monday Night: Showers will gradually die out, leading to largely dry and chilly conditions overnight. However, rain will begin to edge into Atlantic counties later in the night. Expect lows of 1 to 6 degrees in light southerly breezes.
Tuesday: The day will begin with some sunshine in the east, but a band of rain and drizzle will push in from the west, spreading across the country by early afternoon.

Heavier bursts are likely in southern and western areas. Temperatures will again reach 11 to 14 degrees, though it will feel cooler in a freshening southeast wind.
Some areas in the northeast may avoid the rain. Skies will clear from the north on Tuesday night as the rain moves south, with temperatures falling to between 4 and 8 degrees.
Wednesday: A brighter and milder day is in store, with sunny spells and scattered showers, some turning heavy in the afternoon and early evening. Daytime highs will climb to between 13 and 17 degrees in moderate easterly breezes. It will become dry and clear overnight, though patchy mist and fog may form. Lows will dip to between 3 and 7 degrees.
Thursday: A largely dry day is forecast, with plenty of sunshine and just isolated showers. Highs will range from 12 to 17 degrees, warmest in the west. Rain will begin to arrive in the southwest overnight, while the rest of the country remains dry under clear skies. Expect nighttime lows between 2 and 8 degrees.
Friday: Early indications suggest a duller day with widespread showery rain.
