BREAKING: Overturned truck causes road closure in Tipperary as Storm Amy hits hard

Met Éireann has updated its warning for Donegal to a Status Red wind warning from 4pm until 6pm on Friday as Storm Amy sweeps the country.

As Storm Amy continues to bear down on Ireland, Met Éireann has urged caution in the adverse conditions as weather warnings continue to go into effect nationwide throughout the day.

An overturned truck is causing a road closure in Tipperary as Storm Amy hits the Premier County and the rest of Ireland hard.

Cllr Mark Fitzgerald on Friday afternoon warned that the Clerihan Road is closed due to an overturned truck.

The road between Clerihan and Rosegreen will be closed for a few hours to allow for the removal of an overturned articulate lorry.

Cllr Fitzgerald added: "It may be closed for sometime."

Meanwhile, the Cloneen to Mullinahone road is passable again after a fallen tree was removed. 

As Storm Amy continues to bear down on Ireland, Met Éireann has urged caution in the adverse conditions as weather warnings continue to go into effect nationwide throughout the day.

In their latest Storm Amy update, county Clare has been upgraded to a status orange wind warning on Friday from 2pm until 10pm on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has updated its warning for Donegal to a Status Red wind warning from 4pm until 6pm on Friday as Storm Amy sweeps the country.

Extremely strong and gusty southwest winds are forecast for the county. Met Éireann is warning that possible impacts may include fallen trees, damage to power lines, dangerous travelling conditions, structural damage and wave overtopping.

A Status Orange wind warning remains in place for Donegal until 10pm Friday, with the whole country under a Status Yellow wind warning until midnight on Friday, October 3.
