The rain will gradually become patchier and less frequent through the day with some late bright spells and showers following into the south and southwest.
Highest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, mildest in the southwest and south. Moderate to fresh easterly winds will ease through the day.
Overview: Low pressure to the southwest of Ireland will bring further spells rain this week, the most persistent and heaviest of these affecting the south and east of the country. A combination of already saturated ground, high river levels and high tides mean flooding is likely along rivers and in coastal areas.

Wednesday: Another cloudy day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle mainly affecting the south and east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with mostly moderate easterly winds.
Wednesday night: Cloudy with outbreaks of rain further south. Drier conditions with some clear spells further north. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, with moderate to fresh easterly winds.
Thursday: Current indications are for a wet and windy day with widespread outbreaks of rain. These will be persistent and heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.
Friday: While the detail is uncertain, current indications are for another cloudy and windy day with widespread outbreaks of rain and drizzle, the most persistent and heaviest of these in the south and east. Highest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees, with fresh to strong easterly winds.
