Sharlene Mawdsley has been picking up where she left off in 2024.

The Newport AC athlete started off her new season with a winning 400m performance at the Scottish Athletics EAP Indoor Invitational in a new indoor PB of 51.69 on Sunday evening, a time which achieved the European Indoors Standard.

She has also been answering questions from fans on Instagram.

One asked: "Has your training changed since the Olympics?" She replied: "Yes it has! But change is good and I'm trusting the process. For example this day I told coach I wasn't going to do hip thrust. I did in fact do hip thrust.

"I train five days a week now so having two rest days is new for me but the intensity is a lot higher."

Sharlene's favour alcoholic drink is red wine and she hates coffee.

Another asked: "Wil you be running in the nationals in Feb? My little girl is mad to see you running. Her idol."

Sharlene replied: "I will be racing nationals all going well."
