A planning application seeking permission to build multiple new classroom units in a Tipperary school has been received by Tipperary County Council this week.
The application, made by the Tipperary Educational Training Board for Newport College, consists of the construction of a one, two and three storey extension which will include 13 new classrooms, eight specialist classrooms, one SET room and two classroom SEN units.
The SEN units will have direct access to the students own outdoor play area and a sensory garden.

The application also seeks to build a new pedestrian entrance and make adjustments to the existing staff car parking layout.
New plans for the car park include the addition of new car & bicycle parking (with shelter) to the front of the existing main school building and improvements to the two existing vehicular entrances.
Tipperary County Council is due to reach a decision on whether to approve, refuse or seek further information on the planning application by July 1 of this year.
