A Tipperary Town native has began a search for a very special photograph of her late grandmother.

Toni Johnston is searching for a photograph taken of her late grandmother Jossie (Josephine Hayes) who resided at 1 Emmet Street in Tipperary Town.

In a letter sent to Elaine Fitzpatrick, who recently published the fifth edition of the photographic book titled 'Tipperary People', Ms Johnston hopes to soon find the missing photo of her beloved grandmother.

The letter begins: "Dear Elaine, Hoping this reaches you. Jossie Hayes of 1 Emmet Street died in January 1965. She had to my knowledge her 90 Birthday in St Patrick’s Hospital Cashel Tipperary. I know there was a photo taken of her in her bed sitting up with all her cards around the bed.

"It would be my belief that it may have been the local newspaper of Cashel or Tipperary Town who would have taken this photo. Jossie Hayes died in January 1965 at age of 95.

"She was married to Francis Hayes and had children by names of James Andrew and Alice Hayes (married name Lee). I would love to be able to locate this photo of my grandmother my name is Toni Hayes (Alice) of 38 St Patrick’s Avenue Tipperary Town.

"Hoping this reaches you and I am not sure of any further information I can give you but that she loved to play cards and locals would gather in 1 Emmet Street for card games. Yours sincerely, Toni Hayes(Johnston )."
