Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to affected customers on the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme in Tipperary, after further operational issues caused by heavy rainfall resulted in an outage at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant.
The news comes less than 24 hours after another similar issue, which led to water outages for the same area, was fixed.
Customers in the following areas may be experiencing no water as a result: Goatenbridge, Poulatar, Newcastle, Ballybacon Grange, Ardfinnan, Jamestown, Marfield, Neddens, Loughryan, Loughlher, Loughtally, Derrygrath, Newchappel, Rathkeevin, Inishlounaght, Nicholastown, Knockloffty, Grauige Group Water Scheme and Castlegrace.
Uisce Éireann’s Anthony Phelan assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to those impacted as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and thank customers for their support while our works continue to restore supply. We estimate that up to 5,000 customers may be impacted by this outage. Works will take place across the day in an effort to have the plant back in full operation by this afternoon; however, it will take several hours for the reservoirs to replenish and for the network to refill.”
Restoration works are expected to be completed by 3pm this afternoon. Typically, it takes a number of hours following the completion of works before water supply is fully restored to all impacted customers, and it may take longer for customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Updates on this work can be found on the Uisce Éireann Supply and Service map by entering the following reference number in the search bar on our website: TIP00107214
