WATCH: Delighted Michael Murphy celebrates first election to the Dáil

The new TD was hoisted aloft by his supporters

Michael Murphy celebrates being elected to the Dáil, as he is hoisted in the air by his supporters.

The Fine Gael TD is the first TD from Tipperary for the party in Dáil Éireann since 2011.

He was elected on the sixth count with 10,415 votes.
