Success for Thurles Crokes as they take home silver from the County Novice Road Championships

2nd Team home; John Russell, Liam Shanahan, Denis McCullagh and Shane Moloney

The County Road season kicked off in Dualla on Sunday last in glorious sunshine. There was a massive turnout in both races with just under 120 athletes taking part.

First up was the women's 3k race and Thurles Crokes had 7 athletes in the race. First home was Eileen Bourke followed straight after by Lindsay Ryan, Deniece Tuohy and then Amanda Langley 2 places back.

Next in was Regina Dorney followed by Joan Stakelum and Emily Butler. 

Thurles Crokes had 9 in the men's race. First home for the club was Liam Shanahan in a very impressive 5th place. Hot on Liam's heels was Denis McCullagh in 9th, followed by debutant Shane Moloney in 15th and John Russell in 16th resulting in the team finishing 2nd overall.

Next over the finishing line was Peter Maher, followed by Paul Dolan, Liam MccCullagh, John Butler and then Tommy Barrett. 

Well done to all athletes involved It was great to see such big numbers out. Thanks to DBB AC for hosting a great event and to all the volunteers involved.
