Almost 3,000 additional Tipperary homes now have access to fibre broadband

Over 2,800 homes in NBI's Templemore development area will be able to connect to fibre

Over 2,800 homes, farms and businesses in Templemore can now access fibre broadband

Over 2,800 Tipperary homes, businesses and farms can now access high-speed fibre broadband.

National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company leading the roll-out of high-speed fibre broadband across the country have said that over 2,800 homes in its Templemore development area will now be able to connect to fibre broadband.

This area includes the rural surrounds and townlands of Templemore, Borrisoleigh and Kilrush. 

The homes, farms and businesses in Templemore join over 25,300 premises across Tipperary who now have access to fibre.

31,000 premises in Tipperary are included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.

As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, Tipperary will receive €118m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.

There are 2,835 Tipperary premises in the Templemore deployment area that can join the NBI network. National Broadband Ireland is calling on people living nearby to visit nbi.ie/map/ and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.

Network build works are also continuing across Tipperary with build works in progress for over 1,100 premises near the Newport deployment area, due to be connected by the end of the year.

Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland said: "We are delighted to announce that over 2,800 Tipperary premises in the Templemore deployment area can now order high-speed broadband services through the NBI network.

"This will enable those who connect to experience the life-changing benefits of high-speed broadband with minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second," he added.

"Overall, over 25,300 homes, businesses and farms in Co Tipperary can now order a high-speed fibre connection to the NBI™ network. This includes over 2,800 premises near Templemore, over 2,100 near Hollyford, almost 2,000 near Carrick-on-Suir, almost 2,300 near Cashel, over 1,600 near Clonmel, almost 2,900 near Nenagh, and almost 3,000 surrounding Tipperary Town," Mr Hendrick outlined.
