A Tipperary school took some time over the recent Easter holidays to carry out some upgrade works around the school building.

The Abbey School in Tipperary Town carried out a number of upgrades over the Easter break, including one to make the school more sustainable.

The school saw some new solar panels installed, helping them to harness renewable energy and help to bring energy bills down, while some new basketball hoops were also installed in their PE hall.

"These panels will help us harness renewable energy, making our school more eco-friendly and energy-efficient. This project was made possible through a generous government grant and we extend our thanks to Eco Green Resources for their excellent work," the school wrote in a post on social media.

"We believe in the importance of physical education and these new hoops will provide our students with more opportunities to engage in sports and stay active inside and outside the classroom," the school added.

A new dividing wall was installed in the school's canteen, allowing for a multifunctional space which can serve as a classroom, an assembly area and a recreational space for students.

"This addition will help manage the flow of students during meal times creating a more organized and pleasant environment for everyone."
