Fans of both hurling and golf were well and truly treated over the weekend with Tipperary pulling off that historic comeback against Cork at Croke Park to win their 29th All Ireland senior hurling Championship title.

It is a second major title of the year for Scheffler, after winning May's US PGA Championship, and a fourth in total, adding to his two Masters. He now only needs the US Open to become the seventh player to complete the career Grand Slam.

However fans of both sports have noticed a peculiar link between the Royal Portrush course in Antrim and the success of the Tipperary senior hurling team.

Essentially, any time The Open has been hosted at the Antrim course, Tipperary have won the All Ireland.

Its now happened three times, 1951, 2019, and now 2025 too.

Tipp fans will be eagerly awaiting the next time The Open is to be played at the Northern Ireland venue.
