Dr Pat Bracken will speak this Wednesday evening in Roscrea library
If you are interested in sport and history then Dr. Pat Bracken, author of the book 'Sport in County Tipperary 1840-1880, will give a talk this week that is not to be missed. The Tipperary based historian has undertaken significant work looking back though sporting traditions in Tipperary and he has researched extensively on the subject.
In bygone eras archery, cricket and tennis as well as horse racing and hunting were popular activities in the county. The ancient game of hurling was also played in the county.
The talk in Roscrea Library this Wednesday evening will focus on 'Sport in Victorian Tipperary' and it gets underway at 6.30pm. All are welcome to the event and refreshments will be provided on the night.
