These ladies enjoyed the Concert for Gaza held recently in Clonmel
The Clonmel Concert for Gaza and Family Fundraiser Event took place at the Clonmel Talbot Hotel on Sunday January 28 .
The fundraiser was set up to raise vital funds for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund – a medical and humanitarian aid charity that provides care to children in Palestine who do not have access to aid on a local level.
Organisers of the event were blown away by the turn out and cannot praise the people of Clonmel highly enough for their show of solidarity with the Palestinian community.
In excess of €17,000 was raised between tickets sales, a world food sale, face painting, art and a raffle.
The GoFundMe page remains open for anyone wishing to contribute, via When Next We Meet on Facebook and Instagram.
Not one supplier or company involved in the day charged a fee allowing all money raised to go directly to the charity.
The Talbot Hotel waived their fee for the ballroom for the day, Dirk Baumann of DBL Lighting and Sound took on a ten hour day, sound-checking seven acts and engineering the gig, assisted by Eoin Barry.
Mia Carney contributed all sales from her own prints for Palestine to the fundraiser, as well as taking charge of the face painting station with Brigid Teehan all afternoon.
Her prints are still available at the Tudor Artisan Hub in Carrick-on-Suir. Henna artist Roisín Sheikh kept kids and adults alike queuing for hours.
Ian Mannion and Brigid Teehan also donated the proceeds of their art sales, while Raphael Timmerman over saw the sales of beautiful middle-eastern artwork and prints.
Organisers could not keep track of the raffle prizes which were generously donated twenty-seven prizes in total! Boots and O’Reilly’s Pharmacy, B2A Gym, Direct IT Cahir, TheGourmet Butcher, Mua Carney, the Tudor Artisan Hub, The Talbot Hotel, Noreen Duggan, and The Cutting Vedge were amongst just some of the raffle donors.
The organisers would like to extend their thanks to all contributors, including those who dropped off pieces for hampers.
It was a fantastic family atmosphere with the Balloon Company providing popcor and candyfloss, Ken Horne as an excellent MC for the day, and a wonderful magicia keeping the small kids and their adults entertained. When the music started the crowdskept coming. Organisers would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cadhla, Eve Whelan and Alan Acheson, Tipperary Ramblers, Benedictine Quartet, The Wood of O and Crow BlackChicken.
It was a showcase of the strong community spirit in Clonmel with people of all ages and backgrounds giving their time and money for a cause that has stirred the hearts of many.
