Dancing With The Stars returned to our screens on Sunday night with eleven Irish celebrities battling it out on the dancefloor.

This year's show has had bit of a shake up as the long-time favourite professional dancer Karen Byrne joined the judging panel alongside Lorraine Barry, Brian Redmond and Arthur Gourounlian.

The dancer turned judge has already caused quite a stir in her new role, dropping a mischievous pun in the first episode which has caught the attention of many online.

Karen made the cheeky comment during the judges' feedback to the Eurovision star Mickey Joe Hart and his partner Daniela Roze who were awarded 19 points after performing a Paso Doble to Teenage Kicks.

The newest judge ended her critique with a joke aimed at the singer's leather trousers, saying: "It was a bit stiff, Mickey, but that could have been your trousers."

The joke has stole the show online, with one person sharing on X: "A little bit stiff Micky - good woman Karen".

Another wrote: "I take back any previous comment. That "stiff mickey" remark has sold Karen to me as a judge."

Some, however, were not so impressed: "She's a bit hard to listen to in fairness. Needs to tone it down a bit."

Meanwhile on the dancefloor, there has been lots of reactions to this year's celeb dancers.

Top chef Kevin Dundon stepped out of the kitchen and on to the dancefloor on Sunday with his partner Rebecca Scott. One person hilariously wrote on X: "Kevin Dundon bringing wild dad energy to this year's competition."

Some fan favourites have already emerged from just the first night, including TV presenter Elaine Crowley, Olympian Rhys McClenaghan and fellow Olympic athlete Jack Woolley.

One person said on Facebook: "Elaine & Jack & Rhys all stood out for me. But they're all brilliant." Another wrote: "Rhys, Jack and Elaine all fantastic."

There has been lots of praise for Elaine, with someone saying: "Elaine was so graceful wishing her all the best."

However, someone else: "There was too many good dancers tonight for a 1st night. Well done to all."
