Voting for the four seats in the Cahir Local Electoral Area has just concluded
Voting in the Local Elections for Tipperary has just concluded in the Cahir Local Electoral Area.
There was a turnout of 53.78% from an electorate of 3,521 at the polling station at Bunscoil na Cathrach. The seven-booth polling station is the only polling station in the Cahir urban area.
By midday, 10.2% of voters in the Cahir LEA had cast their vote but by 5pm, after a strong turnout in the afternoon, the figure rose to 30.62%.
There are four seats to be won in the Cahir Local Electoral Area with ten candidates going for those seats.
Overall there are 70 candidates in Tipperary seeking to win one of the 40 seats on a newly elected Tipperary County Council.
The counting of votes will begin at 9am on Saturday at the count centre in Thurles.
