On Saturday, August 30, Brian Tierney from Ballycahill travelled to attend Borrisokane GAA Club’s celebration of the contribution of John “Mackey” McKenna to both Borrisokane and Tipperary hurling.

Mackey was a key figure in the great Tipperary team of the 1960s, winning four All-Ireland Senior Hurling medals, six Munster medals and six National Hurling League medals during his illustrious career.

Brian is a grandson of the late Michael Doorley, who hurled with Borrisokane and was a first cousin of Mackey.
