Mobile cancer information centre to visit Tipperary

A Marie Keating cancer information bus will visit Carrick-on-Suir

The Marie Keating Foundation will be in Carrick-on-Suir with the Mobile Information Unit in conjunction with the Sean Healy Memorial Library, Fairgreen, E32 X860 on Friday 12th April from 10.30am – 3pm.

Please do let the wider community know they are very welcome to visit the Mobile Information Unit.

This is a free service and the Registered Nurse will be available to answer questions and provide written information on the main cancers, the 3 cancer screening programmes in Ireland as well as provide cancer prevention information.

Please note, there is no screening offered on the day and no fundraising activity will be going on.

Between 11am – 12pm there will be a talk in the library entitled Your Health Your Choice (The Pillars of Cancer Prevention).   

 

  • This talk provides information on the 7 pillars of cancer prevention  -

Attendees will learn about what action they can take and simple choices they can make to reduce their chance of developing cancer by between 30 -50%. Skin cancer is the most common cancer type in Ireland so this will be discussed and information will be provided on what changes in the skin to look out for.
