Five community organisations and a leading League of Ireland soccer player were honoured at Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District’s Cathaoirleach awards.
Shamrock Rovers star Lee Grace from Carrick-on-Suir, who was Grand Marshal of the town’s St Patrick’s Day Parade in March; Ballingarry Community Café, Fethard & District Daycare Centre, Fethard Athletic Club, Carrick-on-Suir Development Association were the award recipients.
Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District councillors presented the awards and certificates to the recipients at a reception in Carrick-on-Suir’s Comeragh College Community School on Wednesday, May 8.
The awards ceremony celebrated the wealth of talent and accomplishments of award winners .
Paul Collins of Ballywire Media was the Master of Ceremonies, showing video interludes throughout the evening highlighting the successes of each of the award winners.
Each of the five councillors in Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District including district Cathaoirleach Cllr Kieran Bourke, Cllr David Dunne, Cllr Imelda Goldsboro, Cllr Mark Fitzgerald and Cllr Kervin O’Meara nominated one of the award winners for their contribution to the municipal district and the community.
As they presented the awards, the councillors paid tributes the recipients for their commitment, dedication and enthusiasm in striving to improve their home environment.
Carrick Municipal District’s elected members, meanwhile, thank Comeragh College Community School Principal, Kevin Langton, Deputy Principal Kathleen O’Donovan-Ryan who went out of their way to facilitate the hosting of the awards reception.
