Sinn Féin councillor David Dunne has shared photos after cleaning up his local estate, following a mess left by "kids playing".
Rubbish including tissues, plastic bottles and a pizza box can be seen sprawled across the grass in Carrick-on-Suir housing estate Cregg Lawns.
Video had circulated online yesterday of the mess left in Cregg Lawns, and the Carrick-on-Suir councillor explained in a post on Facebook that he cleaned up the mess himself.
"I took it upon myself to go up and clean the area up. I have still a bit to do and the council have agreed to take away the branches," councillor Dunne explained.
The comments were filled with praise for the councillor for the clean-up job, with one saying: "Good man Davy, lead by example. It wouldn't be a big deal for a few residents to take this to task instead of posting videos. Anyway well done sir".
Another commenter praised the Sinn Féin councillor, and said they believed the "attitude to rubbish begins at home".
"When you see parents take wrappers off sweets for children and fire them on the street what do you expect. This is a huge problem in Ireland," the commentor said.
