Carrick-on-Suir was one of the towns across Ireland where protests were staged as part of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign on Saturday, August 3 to mark 300 days of Israeli military attacks on Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 40,000 Palestinian people.
The peaceful protest took place on Carrick’s Main Street to demand a stop to what the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign regards as the “genocide” of Palestinian people living in Gaza by Israel in the Israel-Hamas War.
The protesters, who included Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne, carried Palestinian flags and placards bearing the slogans “End Israel Apartheid - End Gaza Genocide”, “Stop Killing Palestinians – Arms Embargo on Israel Now”, “Freedom for Palestine” and “We Stand With Palestine”.
The campaigners received a great response from the public and a petition was signed by many passers by.
Similar protests to mark the 300th day of the Israeli military bombardment of Gaza were staged at the Main Guard in Clonmel and Market Yard in Tipperary Town on the same day.
