Public urged to fill out cost of living survey by Tipperary public representatives
Sinn Fein public representatives in Tipperary, Cllrs Annemarie Ryan and David Dunne, have called on the Government to act on the rising cost of groceries and food which have soared by 20 per cent since 2020.
Cllr Dunne stated 'people are genuinely worried when they approach the till at supermarket, grocery prices are increasing and have been for several years. The average bill for a weekly shop is now one fifth higher than it was in 2020.

Cllr Annemarie Ryan added that 'rising costs are hitting communities across Tipperary, constituents regularly describe the pressures they face with the cost of living with many highlighting that any increase in their wages is vastly below the rate of inflation.
Cllr Dunne stated that 'Government must also instruct the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) to investigate possible price-gouging in the retail food and grocery sector. Why have prices have remained so high and getting higher despite falling inflation rates and normalising supply chains?
Cllr Annemarie Ryan added that the Government needs to give the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), the power compels supermarkets to provide commercial pricing information to ensure that customers are getting the best deal at the tills.
Cllr Dunne added that we are living in an era of soaring corporate profits but so many of our people are struggling to make ends meet. The FF FG Ind Government have given pay rises to Junior Ministers while ruling out cost of living supports for the people of Ireland; they need to support workers and families with the cost of living, he said.
