A group of 50 cyclists are preparing to take on a 160km charity expedition from Dublin to Lisadobber Pub near Carrick-on-Suir in memory of a young man who tragically died by suicide in March.

Teac Tom, the community based suicide prevention, mental health awareness and bereavement counselling charity, will be one of three causes to benefit from the Dub to Dob Charity Cycle in memory of the late Liam O’Connor from Dunnamagin, county Kilkenny. The event is being organised by his close friends.
Some participants in the epic cycle will be raising funds for South Tipperary Hospice Movement and Carrick-on-Suir Meals Assistance Services.

The 50 participants, including 13 experienced cyclists guiding the group, will depart from the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Dublin at 7am on Sunday, August 24 with Lisadobber Pub their final destination.
Gerald Kirby from Limerick and John Pierse Hearn from Ballyneale are organising the cycle in memory of their 32-year-old friend who worked with Blanchfield Agri in Ballyneale for seven years.

They have set up the Support Dobber Run idonate page where donations can be made to the Kilkenny based charity Teac Tom, which is supported by the Thomas Hayes Trust.

They pay a beautiful tribute to their deceased friend in the introduction to the online fundraising campaign.
“Liam was a kind, loyal and funny soul who touched the lives of so many in all walks of life. His loss has left a space that can never truly be filled, but his memory continues to inspire and unite us,” they wrote.
“This ride isn’t just about distance – it’s about raising awareness, breaking the silence around mental health and supporting the vital work of Teac Tom, a suicide awareness charity that helps individuals and families through the darkest of times.
“Every kilometer we ride is a tribute to Liam and to everyone who has struggled or is still struggling.
“If this ride can spark one conversation, raise one life-saving donation, or remind someone that they are not alone – if will be worth every effort.”

They conclude by asking the public to support the event through donation, sharing the message or by reaching out to someone who might need to talk.
Along with the online fundraising, Dub to Dob Cycle donation buckets will be placed in Ormond Stores in Kilsheelan, Lisadobber Pub near Carrick as well as the The Trap Bar and Auld Mill Bakery in Grangemockler and Killamery Pub at Killamery, county Kilkenny.
