Brewery Lane Theatre
Carrick-on-Suir Brewery Lane Theatre elected Barry Comerford as to chair its committee at the drama group’s annual general meeting.
Mr Comerford, who is noted as an actor and director at Brewery Lane, takes over the role from Roseanne Glascott.
The agm took place in the midst of rehearsals for Brewery Lane Theatre’s next play, Sean O’Casey's classic Juno and the Paycock, which will be staged at the theatre from November 22 to 29.
Mr Comerford is directing the play as well as leading the theatre’s committee for the coming year.

The theatre's committee’s members for the coming year were also elected at the agm in Brewery Lane Theatre’s tearoom on September 22.
Other committee officers are: Vice Chairman Eamon Faulkner, Group Secretary Jayne Tennyson, Treasurer/ Company Secretary Angelina Laoiso, PRO Walter Dunphy.
Committee members are: Roseanne Glascott, Colm Power, Alban Glascott, Ann Mansell, Margaret O’Brien, Sarah Dunne.
The agm commenced with a vote of sympathy to the families of its recently deceased members Tom Nealon, Moira Clancy, Fergus Power and Mary Power.
Outgoing Chairperson Roseanne Glascott spoke of their immense contribution to the theatre’s activities over many years and the void created by their sad loss.
The theatre group staged four plays since its last agm.
Roseanne thanked the directors, cast, crews, lighting and sound personnel, backstage and volunteers in the tearoom for their hard work over the year.
She reported the group is making improvements to the theatre building under the care of Eamon Faulkner.
The redevelopment of the former Goldcrop site has been a big focus of the theatre group in the recent past. It is hoping to gain some land behind the theatre to enable further development of the brewery site.
In other news, Brewery Lane Theatre’s patrons list is now open to new members.
